EbookFormatter is built by MediaStable, LLC. Your privacy matters, especially when you're trusting us with your unpublished manuscripts.

What We Collect

When you use EbookFormatter, we collect only what's needed to convert your manuscript:

Manuscript file — the markdown (.md) file you upload
Cover image — if you choose to upload one
Book metadata — title, author name, and email address (used only for job tracking)
Browser fingerprint — a non-identifying hash used solely for rate limiting (5 free conversions per week)

How We Use Your Data

Your manuscript and cover image are used exclusively to generate your EPUB file
Your email address is stored with your conversion job for support purposes only. We will not send marketing emails
The browser fingerprint is used only to enforce the free-tier rate limit. It cannot identify you personally

File Storage and Retention

Uploaded files (manuscripts, cover images, and generated EPUBs) are stored in Cloudflare R2 object storage. Files are associated with a unique job ID and are available for download after conversion completes.

We do not currently set an automatic deletion schedule, but we periodically clean up old files. If you want your files deleted sooner, contact us and we'll remove them promptly.

Third-Party Services

Cloudflare — hosts the application, stores files (R2), and manages the database (D1). Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to infrastructure-level data processing
Google Fonts — serves the web fonts used on this site. Google may collect anonymized usage data

We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts. There are no cookies.

What We Don't Do

We do not read, review, or access the content of your manuscripts
We do not share your files or personal information with anyone
We do not use your manuscripts to train AI models or for any purpose other than generating your EPUB
We do not sell data to third parties

Your Rights

You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us. We will remove all associated files and job records.
